  • Will I need to code on competition day?
    No, you will not need to code. The techathon is a competition where teams come up with globally-impactful tech ideas to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and present them to judges. It is encouraged to go above-and-beyond with technical details in your solutions, but creating software or hardware is not required. However, ideas should be detailed, refined, and impactful.
  • What if I don't know anything about entrepreneurship and business?
    Don't worry! There will be resources and mentors to help guide you throughout the competition. You do not need to have strong knowledge prior to the event. We are looking for students who have an interest and desire to learn more about the intersection of tech and business.
  • Do I need prior experience or knowledge to attend?
    No, you do not need prior knowledge or experience to attend. We are looking for students with an interest and curiosity for technology and entrepreneurship, as well as committed students who want to make a difference in world.
  • What's in the application?
    The application asks you for general information, along with questions to help us get to know you. We ask about your passions and interests, among other details.
  • If I don’t get selected in Early Acceptances, can I still get accepted for Regular Acceptances?
    Yes, if you applied early but didn’t get accepted, you still have a shot at getting accepted during the round of regular acceptances. All applicants (regardless of if they were accepted or not) will receive an email within a few days after May 19.
  • When does registration open?
    Registration opens on April 22nd, 2023 at 12:00pm.
  • If I am applying with a team, does everyone in my team need to submit an application?
    Yes, all members of your team have to submit an application.
  • When is the deadline to apply?
    Due to the high number of applications, Tech Hours will have a deadline for early acceptance and regular acceptance. The deadline for early acceptances is Sunday May 7 at 11:59pm for applicants who want to secure a spot early. The deadline for regular acceptances is Friday May 19 at 11:59pm. This is the final cutoff for ALL applications.
  • When can I expect to hear back?
    Early applicants who are accepted will receive an email within a few days after the early acceptance deadline (May 7). All applicants will receive an email within a few days after the final acceptance deadline (May 19). Applicants who are accepted will receive additional information in their email regarding next steps.
